The fifth and final major of the season is set to be electric, with so many of the top contenders out to fulfil lofty personal ambitions at Royal Lytham & St Annes, none moreso than Ryu Hae-ran and Nelly Korda.
World No.1 Korda won the first two majors of 2026, only for Ryu to double up too. It’s the first time ever that two players have secured multiple majors in a season. The consistency of Korda, who’d also complete a career Grand Slam with victory in Lancashire, has been astounding over the past few seasons, but she missed her first cut in two years earlier this month.
Victory would see Miyu Yamashita become the first player to go back-to-back in a major since Yani Tseng in 2011, a scenario that isn’t out of the question in current form. The 24-year-old has made the top-five in four of the past six tournaments she’s contested.
Yamashita’s triumph a year ago consigned Charley Hull to her second Women’s Open runner-up finish in three years, but she has a big reason to be cheerful this weekend: the past two winners of the Women’s Open at Royal Lytham were Brits.

Women’s Open 2026 coverage is shared between NBC, USA Network, Golf Channel and Peacock in the US. All NBC coverage is being simulcasted on Peacock.
